Affordable Art Wall 2026

Whether you are an established artist or just beginning, whether you work with paint, photography, or another medium: the open call for Abby's Affordable Art Wall is open to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or background.

Through this open call, we will select four artists, each of whom will have the opportunity to present their work on the Affordable Art Wall for three months.

On the Affordable Art Wall, visitors discover new work that they can purchase directly from the artist. The selection is made by the museum's community council.

Practical information

• Only work that has not been previously exhibited or sold is eligible.

• The open call welcomes both emerging and experienced artists of all ages and backgrounds, who submit work in any medium.

• At the Affordable Art Wall, visitors can discover new work that they can purchase directly from the artist. The selection is made by the museum's community council.

• Only work that can be presented on the flat wall in the Abby Gallery is eligible. Unfortunately, sculpture, installation art, and video art do not meet the selection criteria.

• The selected works must fit on a presentation surface of 7 m².

• The works must be delivered on time and ready for presentation, i.e. equipped with suitable frames, hanging systems, etc. The artist remains responsible for the work. The works are subsequently collected from the museum by the artist.

• The cost must not exceed the stated maximum amount of €750.

Application

Provide an overview of the work you wish to exhibit, together with images/sketches of the works, a short description, and the intended asking price. Also include a short bio about your artistry.

The procedure

Four artists will be selected from this open call, each of whom will have the opportunity to present their work on the Affordable Art Wall for three months.

1. Selection by the community council: The community council will assess the entries received. This council consists of city residents, cultural partners, and representatives of the museum.
2. Announcement of selection: After the selection, you will receive a message and further instructions about exhibiting your work. The winners will be announced on the 6th of April.
3. Exhibition: Your work will be on display in the museum for three months.
4. Sales: The selling price of artworks for the Affordable Art Wall is determined by the artist and may be between €50 and €750. The museum does not handle the sale of artwork; the artist is responsible for contacting and following up with buyers.

• The museum provides the space but is not responsible for damage or theft.
• The artist remains the owner of the work during the exhibition and is responsible for collecting the work after the exhibition.
