RELIC - Groeitraject portretfotografie

Add to favorites

For the ‘Relic’ project, we are looking for ten photographers who would like to take part in an inspiring and guided programme focusing on portrait photography. Together, we will explore the concept of the relic: something personal, something imbued with meaning, something that is cherished. From this starting point, you will seek out stories from the people of Sint-Truiden and translate them into powerful portraits. What is of inestimable value to someone? Which object, feeling or memory tells us who they are?

During the programme, you will have the opportunity to grow as a photographer. You will take part in workshops, group sessions and individual coaching, and work step by step towards creating a portrait.

The results of this project will be displayed in the city centre during an open-air photo exhibition ‘Relic’, which forms part of ‘Bezield en Gekoesterd’ (Inspired and Cherished), a special relic trail through Sint-Truiden as part of the ‘Trudo Year’ celebrations. This route brings historical relics into dialogue with contemporary art and winds its way through various locations in the city, with the Begijnhof Church as the central starting point.

Your work will also reach a wide audience: in addition to the exhibition, it will be shared via digital information boards, the city magazine and a publication.

Who can participate?

The competition is open to anyone over the age of 16 who lives in Sint-Truiden or has a connection to the city through work or school. The competition is open to photographers of all levels. Entry is free.
