Grafixx open call screenings 2026
In 2026, Grafixx will organise its annual festival on illustration, drawing and comics from November 20 tot 22. Grafixx invites artists from all over the world to share their work through performances, lectures, exhibitions, workshops, a zine fest, and a screening program. In our cinema, audiences discover remarkable student work alongside short films by international artists, and admires the magic of both analogue and digital techniques, from psychedelic music videos to hilarious animated dreams. Next to a curated selection of artists, Grafixx also calls on independent artists to submit their works.

Who can apply?
Anyone may apply with at least one animated short film with a duration of minimum 1 minute and maximum 20 minutes. There are no further specific requirements. Please note that the focus of the festival is the narrative image (comics, illustration, drawing).
How to apply?
Please answer the questions listed in the submission form. Applications that do not meet the guidelines (for example exceeding the maximum file size or missing the deadline) will not be considered.
After the Open Call closes, a jury of experts will review all submissions and make a selection. Selected applicants will be contacted with further details by the end of August. Please also check your spam folder and follow our social media channels for updates.
Technical specifications
If your work is selected for the Grafixx 2026 screening program, the file must be delivered in one of the following formats:
1/ DCP
- supported frame rates: 24 / 25 / 30 / 60
- suppported sound mixes: 7.1 / 5.1 / Stereo / Mono
2/ ProRes
- supported frame rates: 25 / 25 / 30
- supported sound mixes: 7.1 / 5.1 . Stereo / Mono
3/ MP4 or MOV files with H.264 of H.265 video encoding
- minimum video bitrate: 15 Mbps (recommended: over 20 Mbps)
- supported frame rates: 24 / 25 / 30
- supported sound mixes: 7.1 / 5.1 / Stereo / Mono
Work submitted in formats other than those listed above will not be included in the screening programme.

Grafixx is a platform for the creation, presentation and dissemination of comics, illustration and graphic arts.
All activities are centered around the intersection of literature, visual and applied arts, with a specific focus on the artistic progress of creators and the development of their networks.
The annual Grafixx festival takes place in autumn at De Studio in Antwerp, Belgium. A meticulously curated group of artists from all over the world inspire with lectures, exhibitions, workshops, live performances, screenings, and a zine fest where independent makers and publishers present their unique publications. This festival guarantees an intense experience of print and paper!
