Gaining inspiration backstage from 2.654 artists: this was Atelier in beeld 2026

The choice was overwhelming: on 2 and 3 May, you could visit nearly 1,772 studios to discover where visual art truly comes to life. The Kunstwerkt team hopped on the train or set off by bike to meet creators in Poperinge, Ghent, Deurne, Brussels, Hasselt, Berlare and Turnhout. And that’s just a selection of the towns and cities where you could bump into artists.

Photographers Josefien Tondeleir and Charbel Alkhoury packed their cameras and returned with a stack of stunning images. The photos prove it: Flanders and Brussels are home to loads of creators who are well worth a visit. And the friendly atmosphere came free of charge!
