Vincent Becher

Antwerpen, Belgium

Vincent Becher is a queer visual storyteller and designer currently living in Antwerpen.

He studied at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (DE), the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs (FR) and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (BE).

Born in southern Germany, he grew up amidst the contrasting influences of his father's naturalist nature and his mother's conservative Protestant values. His formative years in Stuttgart, the Alps, and Berlin shaped a unique perspective that he carried into his academic and artistic pursuits.

Currently pursuing a Master’s in Visual Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, he has redefined his practice around the concept of queer confabulation. His research focuses on queer photography from the 1850s to the 1980s, uncovering how this medium has documented and challenged societal norms. His work is driven by a passion for making hidden histories visible, examining how photography and design have been tools for resistance and self-expression.
