World Collage Day - Restriction

Add to favorites

On the 9th of May 2026, the international “World Collage Day” will be held for the ninth time. This initiative is organised by the renowned Canadian organisation KOLAJ. “World Collage Day” celebrates artists who build connections across borders in a global context marked by both unity and division. A day dedicated to an art form that excels at bringing together different elements to create new forms and new ways of thinking.

Just as in previous years, Coupee Collage Collective aims to set up an accessible and large-scale collaborative project to help promote the objectives of World Collage Day in Belgium as well.

This year, we have chosen the theme “Restrictions,” and we will showcase the results of this call for submissions at the exhibition at the Stedelijke Academie of Waregem.

Right from the start, COUPEE has set itself the goal of serving as a starting point for the exploration of contemporary Belgian collage art. It is not a gallery that represents a select group of artists, nor is it an organisation that acquires or collects collages. COUPEE is a platform where exhibitions, projects, and artists are connected, and collage is promoted as a fully-fledged art form to the general public.

They strive to achieve this goal in two ways. On the one hand, by putting collage art in the spotlight through its accessible, democratic nature. Through workshops or large-scale projects displayed in public spaces, COUPEE brings collage art to the attention of a broad audience.
