Are you the new 'vangst'?

Following a successful inaugural edition in 2024, we’ll be on the lookout for fresh talent in September 2026. We’re diving back into the world of local art. Waregem and its surrounding municipalities are full of creative talent, and once again, we’re providing a platform for a strong and surprising selection of artists and works.

For this edition, CC De Schakel invites you to step inside an existing work of art and give it your own personal, contemporary interpretation. Think, for example, of iconic works such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Edvard Munch’s The Scream or Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. What does such artwork look like through your eyes today? What happens when you re-examine, rearrange or reinterpret it?

All artistic disciplines are welcome, with the exception of applied arts. A formal art education is not required: we are primarily looking for recent work that demonstrates a strong personal vision.

Entries are open until 31 August 2026. The selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in a group exhibition in the foyer of De Schakel, from Sunday 20 September to Sunday 8 November 2026.
