An Onghena

Oevel, België

In search for another perspective to our reality, An Onghena (BE, 1992) explores the tension between fact, fiction and wonder. In all her works, Onghena endeavors to activate the viewer and plays with the relationship of materiality like paper and print, and with the performative aspect of presenting a work. In this way, Onghena's practice is not only based in the final result, but the work reveals the interplay between idea and matter, objectivity and imagination.

An Onghena (1992, B) received her MA Graphic Design and thereafter her MA of Research into Art & Design at Sint Lucas Antwerp. She was artist-in-residence at the Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and laureate of Toegepast20 in Z33. Onghena’s work has been showcased in numerous international exhibitions, including “The Other Side of Paper, Recomposed” at Kika Gallery in Kyoto, Japan; “Paraphrase” at einBuch.Haus in Berlin, Germany; “Remodeling Graphic Habits, nr 86” at The Art Center Sarasota in Florida, USA; “Figures and Routines” at Sea Foundation in Tilburg, The Netherlands; and “Bring Out Into The Open” at Goldberg Galerie in Munich, Germany.
