Manon Raman

Gent, België

"Manon Raman, born in 1996 in Wetteren, Belgium, is a self-taught artist whose early work is characterized by bold colors and a focus on women and the naked body. She began her artistic journey at age 22 and honed her skills while working as a make-up artist for series and movies.

After moving to Niger, West-Africa at age 23, Manon's art evolved to embrace African inspirations and she started painting full time. Her work became less evocative and more introspective, resulting in multiple successful solo shows that also served to support local charities and causes.

From 2021 - 2023 Manon lived in New York where she was part of over 20 expositions and developed her craft further. She recently moved back to her home country and now resides in Ghent with her trusty studio assistant/dog Potato”

"My art is an intuitive expression of my emotions and feelings. Through a spontaneous process, I let my innermost self take control and guide my brushstrokes. The result is an authentic and raw portrayal of my state of mind in that moment. I use various mediums to create texture and depth, without pre-planning my color choices, allowing the image to reveal itself.

As a female artist, I am drawn to the beauty of the female form. My fascination with the fluidity and power of the female body has been a constant inspiration in my work. Growing up in a world that perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards, I have often struggled with my own self-image. In a world that profits from our insecurities, I seek to create art that empowers and celebrates the beauty of all bodies. Through my art, I have found a form of therapy that allows me to reject these societal norms and create my own rules.
