Natalija Gucheva
Gent, België
Natalija Gucheva (b. 1998, Macedonia) is a visual artist and curator based in Ghent, Belgium. Working across installation, performance, and text, her practice explores how art can create shared spaces of memory, care, and belonging. Through immersive environments and collaborative methods, she investigates storytelling as a way to bring bodies, histories, and relational processes into focus. Drawing on feminist and queer archives, oral histories, and lived experience, Gucheva’s work challenges dominant cultural narratives while amplifying voices that are often marginalised.
After graduating with honours from the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) in Fine Arts (2018–2022), she obtained her Master in Fine Arts (2022–2024) and Postgraduate in Curatorial Studies (2024–2025) at KASK & Conservatorium Ghent. Her artistic and curatorial research develops through long-term collaborations that centre collective labour, care, and the politics of artistic work. Alongside her individual practice, Gucheva is an active member of the Ghent-based collective Shif—t*, contributing to its artistic direction, programming, and communication.
Her recent and upcoming projects include Setting the Table (PILAR, Brussels, 2025), Prospering Promiscuously (Komplot, Brussels, 2025), For Some Time I’ve Been Standing (Kunsthal Ghent, 2025), and Eye Becomes Water (Het Paviljoen, Ghent, 2025). Her projects have been presented in Belgium, the Netherlands, and beyond, often situated at the intersection of art, community, and research.
Gucheva’s practice has been recognized for its sensibility toward the politics of care and its capacity to transform everyday gestures into moments of shared reflection. Whether working independently or collectively, she seeks to cultivate spaces where stories are exchanged, relationships are built, and alternative forms of togetherness can emerge.
