Bart Van Nieuwerburgh

A painter of black and white landscapes, drawn from walks through nature. Memory and imagination shape the image. The result is not a literal translation, but a transformation: a landscape emptied of figures, shadow and light, like a window into a parallel world. I prefer the cryptic to the obvious. Each painting is an atmosphere, a quiet tension between presence and absence.
