DOG
"DOG" is the first part of a series of archetypes based on the Maan roos vis reading method for primary school children. The ancient Greek word for dog is CY-ON. In this word lies the origin of the words 'cynic' and 'cynicism'. The cynical school was an influential philosophical school founded by Antisthenes, a student of Socrates. The cynics "bit like dogs by their criticism". As Plato wrote in his Cratylus, I question whether language can help us in the search for truth. Antisthenes replies that "the examination of names, is the beginning of wisdom".
