Something must break

Something must break is an analogue photograph developed directly onto a concrete plate cast in a wooden mould. The image depicts concrete architecture, making concrete both the subject and the physical support of the photograph. The grain of the mould and the cracks formed during unmoulding remain visible, cutting across the geometry of the photographic image. The apparent solidity of the architecture is thus set against the fragility of the material itself.
