Umbrae mundi | Bird of paradise

The bird of paradise has such an interesting, complex silhouette. Yet a shadow can distil it to what is essential, leaving a mark that is both abstract and figurative at the same time. Neither the plant nor its absence. The truth of the form, without the form itself.

Part of the Umbrae Mundi collection
I love light. But I adore shadows. Shadows are not the absence of light. They are its most honest consequence. Rising and falling unnoticed, always presen—on every surface, at every hour. No one seems to notice them. Yet without them the world would be flat, without depth, without definition, without contrast.

Umbrae Mundi is a search for what goes unnoticed.
The unexpected beauty that exists precisely because
no one is looking.
